“Tears of Rain” I woke up, this morning, to that alarm I walked out, to my car, and let the engine roar I put on, that fake smile, I’ve worn since you were gone And I went, about my day, same as since you left I dream about you, I call out your name I soak my pillows, in tears of rain It’s been this way, every night, since you left me So I cry, and plead to god, to have you back in my life I drove out, to that drag strip, where I wrecked that car I can still see, the look in your eyes, as I flipped through the air It occurred to me, that just maybe, you’d never really been there But you were, and I nearly died, if it weren’t for your look of hope I dream about you, I call out your name I soak my pillows, in tears of rain It’s been this way, every night, since you left me So I cry, and plead to god, to have you back in my life Do you remember, those nights out, on our little town Driving the hot rod, with you riding shotgun, and a blanket in the back seat We’d sit under, all those bright stars, and talk about our dreams Sometimes I still go, all the way out there, hoping that you’re there I dream about you, I call out your name I soak my pillows, in tears of rain It’s been this way, every night, since you left me So I cry, and plead to god, to have you back in my life So I need to, ask you to, do me a favor Would you ever, possibly consider, coming back down to the track I’ve got a new car, a fast one, like none other before And now I need, some support, as I goal for the goal And maybe afterwards, we could go out, and look at the stars again |
